We are the data controller for information you provide when using this service. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at privacy@plainzy.com.

    2. What data we collect

    We collect the following information:

    • Contract text or files you submit for analysis. This is processed to generate your plain-English summary and is not retained after your session ends.
    • Usage data such as pages visited, features used, and time on site. This is collected in aggregate and does not identify you personally.
    • Account information (if you create an account) including your name and email address.
    • Payment information is handled entirely by our payment processor (Stripe) and we never see or store your card details.

    3. How we use your data

    We use your data to:

    • Provide the contract analysis service
    • Improve the accuracy and quality of our analysis
    • Send you service-related communications if you have an account
    • Comply with legal obligations

    We do not use your contract documents to train AI models. Your contract text is passed to Anthropic's Claude AI for analysis and is subject to Anthropic's data processing terms. We do not store it ourselves beyond the active session.

    4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

    Under UK and EU GDPR, we process your data on the following legal bases:

    • Contract performance — to provide the service you've requested
    • Legitimate interests — to improve our service and prevent fraud
    • Legal obligation — where required by law

    5. Data retention

    Contract text submitted for analysis is not stored beyond your active browser session. If you have an account, your account details are retained until you request deletion. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us.

    6. Sharing your data

    We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

    • Anthropic — our AI provider, to process contract analysis requests
    • Stripe — our payment processor, for billing
    • Vercel — our hosting provider, who processes data on our behalf
    • Law enforcement — only if legally required to do so

    7. Your rights under GDPR

    If you are in the UK or EU, you have the following rights:

    • Right of access — to request a copy of the data we hold about you
    • Right to rectification — to correct inaccurate data
    • Right to erasure — to request deletion of your data
    • Right to restrict processing — to limit how we use your data
    • Right to data portability — to receive your data in a machine-readable format
    • Right to object — to processing based on legitimate interests
    • Right to withdraw consent — at any time, for consent-based processing

    Our AI provider (Anthropic) is based in the United States. When your contract text is sent for analysis, it may be processed on US servers. Anthropic participates in appropriate data transfer mechanisms to ensure your data is protected to UK/EU standards.

    We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
